Identity Details 👀

On the last years accessories in fashion (buttons, zips, labels, tags ...) moved from a functional use to an identity elements that can have a strong value on identity of brands and designers labels.

Not just a labels or tags with names and code but a real reconizeable style elemtns adopted to create value and unique products.

Today we find brands on the market that have work on this solution at the other level, accessories that can became a gadget to increase the perception of a product to give a very original, interesting and refined visual value.

Create the visual identity through accessories is a very complex work that requires several test, options and research, to guarantee the same message / image on every detail and material used.

One of the most famous brand that have work on this on the last years is OFF-White, that have create a completely new direction using elements out of fashion system.

Create an accessories brand identity?🔮

Like a traditional visual identity project, the most important elements are the messages that brands want give at the customers.

To do this, we have to mix a lot of elements, like graphic, materials, colors, sizes.. all of these can create a different feeling from classic to sportswear or disruptive direction.

One of the most important things is colors.

Combining color tones on several different materials is one of the critical and risky points, for this we need a several tests and options, and always use international PANTONE coding systems.

Once the main elements have been slected, we will divide the identity accessories into two macro areas:

Never Ends and Seasonal.

Never ends: These are the main brand accessories, the strong identity of the brand, that has to be defined at the beginning life of the brand, and ideally has to be untouched for several seasons.

Seasonal: Here we can play, this is the seasonal accessories that follow the theme or direction of the season, these could be more innovative and disruptive, it’s just for a single season!


Think different, design approach💥

One of the most famous design approach came from The North Face, on 2002 the design team has included on the front lock or their famous Borealis Backpack a basic whistles that could be really helpful on mountain if you need help.

This approach is the best combination of design thinking and identity that create a real innovation.
